Marjorie Ellen Smith, 92, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024. Born on January 3, 1932, in Bedford, Ohio, to John Jay Webb and Anna Grace Griminger, Marjorie lived a full and vibrant life.

Growing up in New Athens, she was one of three siblings, alongside her brother Vernon and sister Janet. On July 3, 1948, Marjorie married the love of her life, Carl Harvey Smith. Their enduring love story spanned 65 years until Carl’s passing in September 2013. Together, they embarked on countless adventures, traveling across the country and raising their daughter, Carla, in both California and Ohio, and finally settling in Columbus in 1967.

Marjorie was a woman of many talents and interests. She enjoyed her life as a homemaker but also worked as a telephone operator in Warren, Ohio, and later as a realtor in Columbus. Her creative spirit shone through in her hobbies, including crafting, sewing, and crocheting.

Carl and Marjorie shared a passion for the outdoors, enjoying boating and water skiing. In their retirement, they embraced the "snow bird" lifestyle, dividing their time between Ohio and Florida. They cherished their time exploring the country in their RV, visiting friends and family along the way. Dedicated to the art of square-dancing, they led their club as President and Vice-President.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl; her parents, John Jay and Anna Grace Webb; her brother, Vernon (Jeri) Webb; her sister, Janet (Clarence) Wilson; and her niece, Robin Lee.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Carla Lane; her granddaughter, Anna (Troy) Shaffer; her grandson, William Fred (Taylor) Lane; her great-grandsons, Harrison and Liam Shaffer; her nephews, Alan Webb, Ed (Marge) Wilson, Charlie Smith, and Don Beamer; her nieces, Debra Baker and Beth Ann (Webb), and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.

Marjorie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will be treasured for her unwavering love for her family, her adventurous spirit, and her warm and generous heart.

A service will be held in Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory, 116 Second St. NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663 on Friday, January 3, 2025 beginning at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Longview Cemetery at New Athens, Ohio.
