Marjorie Smith Obituary

Marjorie Jean Smith
1931 - 2025
Marjorie Jean Smith (nee Klaus), 94, passed away in her home on Friday, December 12, 2025. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was centered on her unwavering faith and family.
Margie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved playing Scrabble, bingo and pinochle, and rarely missed a Hallmark movie or watching the news. She could often be found working on puzzles or completing the daily crossword in the newspaper. No matter the activity, she always had a smile to share, or joke that would brighten the room.
Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life and an example to all who knew her. She loved attending church services on Sundays and signing in the choir.
Margie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Dave Smith; her son, Mark Smith; parents, William and Myrtle Klaus; and brothers, Billy and George Klaus.
She is survived by her son, David Smith; her cherished grandchildren, Jason (Jen) Smith, Jessica (Ioannis) Sidiropoulos, and Justin (Tiffany) Smith; her adored great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jaret, Juliana, Niko, Noah and Niylah; and her loving sister, Barbara.
Friends may visit with her family on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT. Her prayer service will begin at 10:00 am in the funeral home, followed by her burial in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden.
