Marjorie Sublett, age 93 of Adair, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 at her home.
Marjorie Ann (Bechtol) Sublett was born in Adair, Iowa on October 23, 1932 to Roy and Nellie (Lowry) Bechtol.
Marjorie lived the majority of her life in the Adair area. Marjorie loved farming especially her Black Angus cattle and working in the fields. She was a well-loved and well-known pillar of the community. Marjorie loved people and loved visiting even more making her the perfect candidate for her community engagements. A few of her most well-known endeavors are the free Thanksgiving dinners Marjorie hosted for over 30 years, managing burial plots at the Sunnyhill Cemetery, and acting as the town’s Uber driver (before Uber was a thing) for local citizens (especially veterans) needing to get to appointments and stranded motorists trying to get to their destination.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her daughter Beverly, husband Cecil, father and mother Roy and Nellie, brothers Jack and Richard Bechtol, and sister Jean (Ludwig) Bechtol and brother-in-law, Marvin Ludwig. Family members who will carry on her memory include her sister Janelle Bechtol, children Roy, Ramona, and Jodi. Grandchildren Joshua, Sarah, Skylee, Torie, and Benjamin and great-grandchildren Phoenix (Sarah), Caden, Carson, Cami (Joshua), Kaden, Eleanor, and Kenneth (Torie). Marjorie is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many friends.

Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Adair.
Private family burial will be at the Sunnyhill Cemetery in Adair.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the A-C Food Pantry or the Adair Fire & Rescue and can be sent in care of Schmidt Family Funeral Home to P.O. Box 523 Atlantic, Iowa 50022.
