Mark Dean Addis, 70, of Pleasant City, passed away Thursday (July 11, 2024) at his home.
He was born August 27, 1953 in Marietta, son of the late Lenley D. Addis and Dorotha M. (Cramer) Addis.
A 1971 graduate of Caldwell High School, Mark had worked for twenty-seven years at Cambridge Developmental Center and for thirty-nine years as a bus driver for the Rolling Hills Local School District. He loved driving the team bus for basketball games, but he especially loved driving for the cross country events – Mark and his wife, Irene who also went to all the events, felt the athletes were a part of their extended family.
He was a member of Cambridge Eagles Aerie 386 and a life member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting & fishing and was a small game hunter.
Mark was a member of the Cambridge Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene (Eason) Addis, who passed away September 22, 2022. They were married May 5, 1978. Also deceased are a brother, Roy Addis; a sister, Ruth McElfresh; a daughter, Cindy Stombaugh; and a great-granddaughter, Sarah Bozarth (Cain).
Mark is survived by two daughters, Carol Stombaugh of Byesville and Cherie (Chuck) Cain of New Concord; a brother, Joseph Dale (Joy) Addis of Hillard; three grandchildren, Amanda (Josh) Blackledge, Kristy (Tim) Harding, and Ben (Amanda) Cain; thirteen great-grandchildren, Gabe, Caleb, Gracie, Olivia, Kaden, Christian, Emma, Daisey, Claire, Reanna, Miranda, Camilla, and Riggs; two great-great-grandchildren, Aniyah and Laina; and several nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday (July 16, 2024) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Bergeson officiating.
Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.
