Mark Phillip Akin, 72, passed away on September 23, 2025, under the care of the Sanford Hospice House.

Mark was born on November 19, 1952, in Moorhead, MN. He grew up and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1970. Mark dedicated his work to the family-owned business Akin’s Electric until they closed in 2006. He then worked for Northern Plains Distributing until he retired in 2020. He helped so many people with his knowledge and skill when it came to repairing appliances.

Lake Ida was a special place for Mark. He enjoyed his summer days at his cabin on the lake. Mark was an avid bowler and a member of the Moorhead Rod and Gun Club which he served as president. He had a love for animals, especially his German Shepards, Casper and Max. He had a love for nice cars and fast boats.

He cared deeply for those around him. His kindness and generosity were immeasurable. He always found ways to show friends and family how much he cared. His friendship will be deeply missed by many.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Elaine; brother, Glen “Skip” Akin; and several aunts and uncles.

A special thank you to the many special nurses at Sanford Health in Fargo and Hillsboro who cared for Mark in these past several months.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Final resting place will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
