Mark A. Bailey, age 67, of Osceola, IN, passed away on October 29, 2025. He was born on February 26, 1958, in South Bend, IN, to the late Max Bailey Jr. and Sandra (Balint) Bailey, who survives.
Mark is deeply missed by his mother, Sandra Bailey of Granger; his daughter, Rachel (Sean) Bailey of Mishawaka; his sister, Cynthia (Edward) Switalski of South Bend; his niece, Alysha (Andrew) Vardell of South Bend; his great-nieces, Ava and Adilynn Vardell; his aunt, Kathy (Bob) Dobecki of Spring Hill, TN; his cousins, Robert (Lisa) Dobecki of DeRidder, LA, and Jim (Stacey) Dobecki of Spring Hill, TN. He was preceded in death by his father, Max Bailey Jr., and his wife, Mary (Gardner) Bailey.
A proud graduate of Washington High School in South Bend, Mark's passions spanned many interests, including geology, astronomy, and amateur radio. He enjoyed collecting geodes, rocks, and telescopes, and had an extensive collection of shortwave radios in his basement. Mark loved going to the beach in search of rocks and hidden treasures and found peace watching the sunset over Lake Michigan. A 1st-degree black belt in Karate and a certified diver, he embraced challenge and adventure. He also took great joy in creating beautiful jewelry, a hobby that reflected his creative spirit.
Cremation has been chosen by the family, and private memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka, IN, or the American Cancer Society in Mark's memory.
Mark will be fondly remembered for his curiosity, his inventive spirit, his love for nature's wonders, and the warmth and love he shared with those around him.
