Mark Birchette Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Walker Sanderson Funeral Home & Crematory - Orem on Jan. 18, 2025.
Mark Edward Birchett "Ogre"
August 24, 1966 – January 11, 2025
Mark Edward Birchett, known affectionately as "Ogre" to friends and loved ones passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Saturday, January 11, 2025, due to congestive heart failure caused by Type 2 diabetes.
Born on August 24, 1966, at Fort Belvoir in Virginia, Mark was the son of David Bird, who survives him, and Sandra Bird, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Mike Birchett and Chris Bird; his son Brice Birchett (2003); and his grandson Carter, who passed away at birth. He is survived by his children: Daniel, Elric, Nicole, Randon, Bethany, and Maya; his sisters Deana Felt and Elizabeth Bird; and his grandchildren: Lucas, Taylorann, Xander, Evelyn, Bricen, Braiden, Delilah, Sequoia, Madisen, Hallam, Gracie, Rune, Maverick, Hazel, Rocket, Enzo, Memphis, and Lennon.
Mark was a veteran of the United States Army, and was honorably discharged in the 1980s. Known for his vibrant red hair, Mark was affectionately called "King Brian" by many loved ones and family friends from Ireland, a nickname that reflected both his fiery spirit and the warm, regal presence he brought to those around him.
Mark carried a lifelong love for music, especially rock and roll, and attended countless concerts. His extensive collection of signed memorabilia reflected his passion for the genre. A lesser-known fact about Mark was his love for reading-he amassed a huge library of science fiction and fantasy novels. He was also a fan of comedy, particularly British and Canadian shows that he shared with his kids like Red Dwarf and The Red Green Show.
In his later years, Mark was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked tirelessly to turn his life around and follow Christ's example, becoming a source of inspiration to those who witnessed his transformation. His faith brought him peace, purpose, and a renewed commitment to serving others.
Mark also devoted himself to giving back to his community. As an original member of Bikers Against Child Abuse (B.A.C.A.), he worked tirelessly to protect and support at-risk and abused children, changing countless lives for the better. True to his biker roots, Mark lived by the mantra, "Metal up, rubber down," a phrase he coined and a reminder to face life's challenges upright with strength and to stay grounded in the journey ahead.
If Mark had a fault, it was that he often cared far more for the well-being of others than he did for his own. Known for his gruff exterior, Mark was a big-hearted man who unconditionally loved those around him. He wasn't afraid to be loud or make a crude joke to lighten the mood, but beneath his tough persona was a thoughtful and charismatic individual who kept detailed journals of his experiences and well wishes for others.
Mark's legacy includes lessons in how to live with courage, humor, and resilience, and his selfless dedication to others has left an indelible mark on those who knew him. While he was sometimes ruled by his own inner struggles, he remained a man of profound love and generosity.
We take comfort in knowing that Mark is now reunited with loved ones who went before him, including his beloved and cherished son Brice, and rests in peace in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Until we meet again, dear father and friend, keep your stick on the ice and your metal up, rubber down.

My husband David and I rode with BACA for many years and thats where we became family with Orge. He was one you could always count on, to do what he said he would. He always had a smile and word of of encouragement for each of the children we visited, was there for the child rides, and fund raisers. No matter when we seen him, he would stop to say hello and ask how we were doing? We will miss him, but never forget the good man he was. Love; David & Darlene Pierce

out a song and we would sing it might just be the chorus of something kind of silly don't you think, but that was the kind of person he was. That will be a great memory that I will hold in my heart forever.

He was fasinating, he would tell stories of famous people he met famous places he went the things he had in his memorabilia collection, he spoke of his days when he was in the military, and I shared the stories that my dad had told me because he is a Vietnam vet.

Mark was a giver, when he heard we damaged our Harley box on the bike, he got in touch with his friend Pat who was able to paint and design it back to the way it was so I could give it to my husband for christmas.

Every visit he would always ask if we had taken the bike out and how was my husband's back doing.
Always offered for us to go to the clubhouse and to ride with his Charter.

I saw him a little over a week ago, I didn't get to room him this day but he did see me and walked down they hall and said "Hey Tiff what do you think of my new hat "?
It was a hat signed by Ted Nugent. He said so you want one for you or your hubby for christmas ? ..I mean for this Birthday, its coming up in February right?.. Memory like a hawk.

I told him you dont have to but lets get a photo.

Rest in Peace my dear Friend...Tiffani
