Mark J. Calantoni

Mark Joseph Calantoni, fondly known as "Mark the Truck", 61, of Carteret, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy.

He was born in Perth Amboy and was a life-long resident of Carteret. Mark graduated from Carteret High School, Class of 1984. He was an active member of the Carteret Specials, where he enjoyed participating in all their events, especially bowling. Mark was also a proud Special Olympics athlete, who won many metals.

He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Carteret, a member of the Carteret BPO Elks 2235 and an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus Carey Council 1280. Mark also loved collecting cars and trucks, and listening to music, especially Bon Jovi.

Mark is predeceased by his parents, Lynn and Frank Calantoni; twin brother, Frank Calantoni; and his grandparents, Sam and Anena Sica. He is survived by his loving sister, Nina Calantoni; three Uncles, Joseph, Thomas and Pasquale Sica; many nieces and nephews; resided with his cousin, Jean and Celeste Keratt-Liscio; many other cousins, family and friends.

Funeral will be on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 starting at 9:30 AM at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Avenue, Carteret, followed by a 10 AM Mass at St. Joseph Church in Carteret. Interment will be at St. James Cemetery in Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Carteret Specials in his memory would be appreciated.
