Mark David Christian, 64 years of age, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away Sunday, July 14th of 2024, surrounded by family. Mark was born January 2, 1960, in Hobbs, New Mexico and moved to Waxahachie, Texas in 1965.
After graduating from Waxahachie High School in 1978, Mark served in the Navy (Master-at-Arms) and then started his career as a police officer in Hutchins. He then served in the Waxahachie Police Department for 18 years and retired as a Sergeant. During this time, he was a member of the SWAT team, helped implement several community programs, helped with the Police Explorers, helped develop the Police Supporters program, was awarded a Lifesaving Award, and proudly protected his hometown.
Mark enjoyed spending time with his family and serving his church and community. He served as a Deacon, Awana's Leader, and part of the 'Eyes and Ears' team at Waxahachie Bible Church. He also passionately coached and played softball, umpired hundreds of ballgames, and was even inducted into the National Hall of Fame for Umpires. Mark was an avid fisherman and gardener, a proud fan of Texas A&M, and he loved playing board games with his family. His boisterous laugh will be remembered for years to come!
Mark will be dearly missed, but there is peace in knowing that he is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior and that after fighting health issues for several years now, he is no longer in pain.
Mark David Christian is survived by his wife of 22 years, Misty Dawn Christian, and their children, Samantha (student at Texas A&M), Colton (senior at WHS), and Emma Christian (8th grader at Howard Junior High); a sister; and many friends. When Mark arrived in heaven, he was greeted by his parents, Mr. Ardell and Mrs. Marie Christian, and his brothers, Tommy and Donnie Christian.
The life of Mark David Christian will be celebrated on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 3 pm at Waxahachie Bible Church followed by a graveside service at Waxahachie City Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 5:30-7:30 pm at the Waxahachie Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Patriot Guard Riders, the US Navy, and the Waxahachie Police Department/Sheriff's Department for honoring Mark at his funeral services.
