Mark Alan Covalt ObituaryMark Alan Covalt passed peacefully surrounded by family from this life to his heavenly home on January 24, 2025. He was born to parents, James Oscar Covalt and Betty Louise Hildreth Covalt. He has two brothers, Timothy James and David Paul Covalt.
He grew up in Craig, Colorado, learning to ski at Steamboat Springs. He graduated from Moffat County High School in 1977.
He began his college studies at Mesa College in Grand Junction, Colorado and received his degree from the University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo, Colorado. As a college student he enjoyed fighting fires with BML during the summers.
He served 28 years in the Colorado Air National Guard reaching the rank of Master Sergeant. He loved serving in the guard. He enjoyed being deployed to Panama, Australia, South Korea, Curacao, Turkey, Italy, Iraq, and Djibouti, wherever the F-16s went Mark went.
He married Lu Ann Clark on November 9, 2002.
After retirement he enjoyed going to Colorado Rockies' games, camping, and motorcycle rides. When on a ride he followed a strict rule "never break the speed limit."
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, and mother. He has two daughters from his first marriage, Michelle and Gretchen. Gretchen and her husband Arturo Zepeda II have two sons Arturo III and Christian James.
He was a loving stepfather and grandfather to Brad Petrasko (daughters Lily and Mackenna), Jaime (children Nate & Hannah Piette) & Glen Jirikowic.
