Mark Elwin Cross, 66, of Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away on March 20, 2026. He was born on October 6, 1959.

Mark was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend whose presence brought laughter and comfort to those around him. Known affectionately as “Papa” and “Pops,” he built a life centered around hard work, family, and the simple joys of life.

Mark was the owner and operator of MC Mechanical, where he worked as a self-employed HVAC and refrigeration technician. He was highly skilled in his trade and known as someone who could fix just about anything. Mark took pride in his work and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He served his country honorably in the United States Army for three years and later completed trade school to further his expertise in HVAC and refrigeration.

He is survived by his children, Jamie Beresford and Joshua Cross; and his beloved grandchildren, Michael Beresford, Noah Beresford, Alexander Beresford, Kolbie Cross, Angello Blake, and Devon Hughson. He is also survived by his mother, Joyce Crum; and his siblings, Tom Jowers, David Jowers, Cindy Mackowiak, Dan Cross, and Cathy Cross.

He was preceded in death by his son, Justin Cross, and his father, Elwin Cross.

Mark had a deep love for fishing, camping, and most of all, spending time with his family. He was known for his quick wit and constant jokes—always ready with humor that could lighten any moment. What people loved most about Mark was his ability to make others laugh and feel at ease, no matter the situation.

He was a man of faith and was involved in his church community. His life was a reflection of kindness, resilience, and a strong sense of family.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Mark will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His family takes comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the laughter he shared, the skills he passed down, and the love he gave so freely.

“Those we love don’t go away—they walk beside us every day.”
