Mark Edman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DuBore Funeral Home - Warren on Jan. 20, 2026.
Mark Edman, 92, of Alvarado, MN, died peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, in North Star Manor of Warren, MN.
Mark Sylvander Edman was born on June 10, 1933, to Gustave and Marie (Sylvander) Edman. Raised on the family's (now century) farm, he graduated from Alvarado High School in 1951, and went to work farming for his father. In 1955, he enlisted in the US Army and served in Germany. He trained as a mechanic for the military- which suited him well as he was already a seasoned self-taught engineer. He enjoyed touring Europe while on leave, but was happiest returning to the soil of his homeplace in the summer of 1957.
Most of Mark's life was centered around his brothers, Philip and Robert. The three bachelor farmers were some of the first in the Valley to raise sugar beets alongside the usual grains and dairy cows. Mark and Robert were the engineers and tinkerers, meticulously disassembling and restoring numerous tractors, a Model T, and even a homemade beet piler, while Phil was the bookkeeper. The well-oiled machine of their farm funded not a lavish lifestyle, but a great deal of charity. The brothers were active in their church (Alvarado Baptist), assisted in the seasonal opening of Lake Bronson Bible Camp for many years, were Gideons, and volunteered for the Salvation Army- in addition to innumerable other quiet works of kindness.
A soft spoken and gentle man, Mark was happy with whatever God gave him. From fields tended by his own hands, to being in grease up to his elbows, he was happiest when he could simply accomplish the work God gave him to do.
He will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and eight older siblings, Carol Ranstrom, John, Paul, Ruth Tatter, Robert, James, Neal, Philip.
Mark is survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved.
