David A. Edman

David Edman was raised in the Western suburbs of Chicago. During the Korean War he entered the U.S. Army. After basic training, he was assigned to Officers Candidate School at Fort Riley, Kansas, graduating as a Second Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers. Posted to the French Sector of Occupied Germany, he served as a company executive officer.

After returning to the States, David finished his college requirements, then enrolled in a Master's program at Columbia University. Upon completion, he crossed upper Broadway to begin three years of theological education at Union Theological Seminary under such eminent scholars as Reinhold Niebuhr, Robert Handy, Wilhelm Pauck, Samuel Terrien and John Knox.

Ordained in the Episcopal Church, David carried on ministries in Manhattan, Westchester County, Upstate New York, Maine, Dallas, TX and Oklahoma. A prinicipal concern in his work was preservation of classic Anglican Reformation doctrines as enshrined in the 1549 Book of Common Prayer, and its personal application.

David embarked on his final journey of faith on 12/25/25. He requested that Rick McLaughlin and ross Bartlett preside over his interment at the Hayward family plot in Morrill, Maine. He is survived by his beloved wife Rita Hayward Edman, his daughter and son-in-law Sarah & Ron Pretzer of Cortez, CO, his son Peter Edman of Schenectady, NY, his daughter Brita Edman of East Hampton, NY, his stepson and daughter-in-law Michael & Rebecca Goodman of Fort Collins, CO, and his three grandchildren - Benson Edman, Violet Goodman, and Grady Goodman.
