Indian Purchase TWP – Mark W. Emerson, 67, passed away on January 29, 2026, following a period of declining health. Mark was born in Millinocket on June 10, 1958, the son of C. Robert (Bob) and Bev (Bears) Emerson.

Mark grew up in Millinocket and from a very young age he found a passion in life for music. Throughout his life he enjoyed playing the drums, piano, bongos, guitar and flute. Mark was a graduate of Stearns high school, class of 1977. During high school he met the love of his life, Karen Beaulieu. They celebrated 45 years of marriage.

Following high school, Mark attended University of Maine Augusta for music. He received an associate degree in Hotel Restaurant Management from Southern Maine Community College. Mark received his Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and worked at Emerson's Pharmacy, Davis Pharmacy, among others.

Mark played in several different bands over his lifetime, 4 Way Street, Starsmasher, Amethyst, Skin & the Fleshtones, Choice, Sweet Rush, ESP and sat in with many other bands abroad. He was an accomplished musician who passed up the opportunity to be in "The Who's" backup band.

Mark also enjoyed his dog, cooking, bartending, reading, taking boat rides, snow sled, skiing, water skiing, travel and loved being around his family and friends. He was a humble man with a heart of gold.

Mark was predeceased by his parents, Bob and Bev Emerson; twin brothers, Peter & Paul; father-in-law, Babe Beaulieu; stepfather-in-law, Harold Quackenbush Jr.; step sister-in- law, Dawn Quackenbush, nephew, Tyler Emerson; brother-in-law, Dave Schneider.

He is survived by and greatly missed by his wife of 45 years, Karen (Beaulieu) Emerson; his mother-in-law, Ernestine (Mommy Tine) Quackenbush; his siblings, Rob (Teresa) Emerson, Greg Emerson, Chris (Bereniki) Emerson and Tricia Schneider; his sister-in-law's, Lisa (Louis) Civiello, Kara (Dan) Dylag: step brother-in-law's, Brad and Todd (Alyson) Quackenbush, many special nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish for immediate family at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Mark may be sent to, The LifeFlight Foundation, P.O. Box 859, Augusta, ME 04332; Studio 1 Dance and Acrobatic Center, 70 Spring St., Millinocket, ME 04462 or Millinocket Performing Arts, 215 Penobscot Ave., Millinocket, ME 04462. "With grateful hearts, Thank you so much."
