Mark Vinson Fagan, age 75 of Gallatin, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 30, 2025, in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Born on February 6, 1950, in Lewisburg, Tennessee, Mark was a dedicated family man, an esteemed law enforcement officer, and a cherished friend.
Mark embarked on his career with the Lewisburg Police Department for one year before fulfilling a lifelong dream by joining the Tennessee Highway Patrol at the age of 21. Over a remarkable span of 33 years, he rose through the ranks to retire as Colonel, leaving behind a legacy of service that exemplified his commitment to public safety.
An alumnus of Marshall County High School, Mark also attended Martin College. His contributions to the community extended beyond his professional life; he was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Gallatin, where he served as a Deacon, was a member of Dave Dozier's Sunday School Class for many years, and shared his passion for photography. His artistic eye brought joy to many, with his photographs frequently featured on local Nashville news stations, capturing moments that resonated within the community.
Mark was known for his vibrant personality; he loved making people laugh and was well-regarded as a jokester who could remember every joke he ever heard. His infectious smile brightened the lives of those around him, and it was often said that if he wasn't smiling, something must be amiss.
A passionate aficionado of World War II history, particularly the Pacific theater and the aircraft used during the war, Mark spent his leisure time immersing himself in this interest. He also found great joy in spending time with his beloved dog and best friend, Danni.
Mark is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rhoda Fagan; his daughter, Julia Allen, and her husband, Tim; and his grandsons, Daemon Thornhill and Isaac Thornhill. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyndal and Nell Fagan, and his brother, Joe Fagan.
A Celebration of Mark's Life will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 6:00 P.M. from First Baptist Church Gallatin. Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 5:00 P.M. until time of service.
