MARK HERBERT FLOYD, 57, WAS CALLED AWAY TO BE WITH THE LORD ON SATURDAY, APRIL 19, 2025. HE WAS BORN IN ATHENS, GA, ON NOVEMBER 16, 1967. HE retired from CARRIER TRANSICOLD AND LATER STARTED UP SMALL TOWN NURSERY WITH HIS WIFE.
HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, HERBERT HANEY AND SARAH GAYNELL FLOYD, AND HIS BROTHER, BOBBY H. FLOYD. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE, TAMI NELMS FLOYD, A DAUGHTER, BRIE (MATT) FLEMING OF ARNOLDSVILLE, GA, TWO STEPSONS, LAMAR (KELLY) NELMS AND DEREK (KIMBERLY) NELMS, BOTH OF ATHENS, GA, AND TWO SISTERS, GAIL FLOYD OF LEXINGTON, GA, AND KATHY (TIM) FULTON OF SOUTH CAROLINA. HE HAD SIX GRANDCHILDREN, HADLEY AND HAYDEN NELMS, SKYLAR AND WALKER FLEMING, MASON AND LEVI NELMS, HIS BELOVED DOG, BELLA AND NIECES AND NEPHEWS.
MARK WAS A MEMBER OF CELEBRATION BAPTIST CHURCH IN GREENSBORO, GEORGIA. HE LOVED THE LORD AND WAS CONCERNED FOR OTHER LOVED ONES’ SALVATION. HE WAS A DEVOTED HUSBAND, FATHER, POP, AND POP POP. HE LOVED SPORTS, ESPECIALLY UGA FOOTBALL, AND WATCHING HIS GRANDCHILDREN PLAY SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL. HE ENJOYED WATCHING SHOWS SUCH AS AMERICAN PICKERS, GOLD RUSH, SWAMP PEOPLE, PD CAM, AND OTHERS WHILE SITTING BACK IN HIS “BIG DADDY” CHAIR. HE WAS A BIG GUY WITH A BIG HEART. HIS FAVORITE VACATION PLACE WAS ANNA MARIA ISLAND, WHERE HE COULD RIDE THE GOLF CART ALL OVER THE ISLAND AND EAT ALL THE OYSTERS HE WANTED. HE ALWAYS RENTED A PONTOON BOAT TO EXPLORE THE WATERS AND OTHER SMALLER ISLANDS. HE ALSO LOVED GOING TO GATLINBURG AND JUST LETTING HIS WIFE WALK AROUND THE SHOPS WHILE HE WOULD SIT WITH BELLA PATIENTLY WAITING AND PEOPLE WATCHING.
VISITATION WILL BE AT LORD AND STEPHENS, EAST, ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23, 2025, FROM 2 – 4 PM SERVICES IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING IN THE CHAPEL AT 4 PM WITH KENNY MARR OFFICIATING AND KYLE DOBBS AT THE PIANO.
