Mark Gleeson Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 25, 2026.
Mark Edward Gleeson, 45, entered into eternal life February 13, 2026, at his home.

Mark was born in York, January 24, 1981, a son of Edward Joseph and Martha Jeanette (Gurnavage) Gleeson. He lived his life with boundless creativity, finding expression through drawing, writing stories and songs, and performing with a traveling drama club. He formed many fond memories during childhood summers spent vacationing with his family at the shore in Stone Harbor, NJ, as well as many cherished trips to visit family in Florida.

Following his youth and graduation from school, Mark shared his love of music by playing guitar and bass in several bands alongside his brother and close friends. He then enlisted in the US Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He was immensely proud of earning his jump wings and often joked about the unique thrill of "jumping out of perfectly good airplanes."

An exceptional athlete, Mark's competitive nature was shaped by years of ice hockey, snowboarding, skiing, and playing paintball with his brother, many cousins, and friends. His talent as a hockey player led him to travel across the US and Canada, and his time playing for the Philadelphia Junior Flyers solidified his status as a lifelong Flyers fan.

Mark was also gifted with technical skills; he loved building computers, especially for gaming. He also loved tinkering with and working on his numerous cars. One of his favorite projects was his Thunderbird SuperCoupe, a vehicle he put his many personal touches on after rebuilding the transmission by hand with his grandfather. In the kitchen, he was equally inventive, frequently cooking unique dishes and experimenting with wild new ingredients.

With a sharp sense of humor, his trademark smile, and an infectious laugh, Mark had a gift for making fast friends and brought a unique energy to the lives of those he loved. He shared a particularly unbreakable bond with his recently departed service dog, Dexter, who was by his side through all the ups and downs life brought him. But in spite off it all, his love for God remained intact through his relationship with Jesus his Savior.

Mark is survived by his parents; his two sons, Hayden Miller and Chase Tross; his brother and sister-in-law, Devin and Allison Gleeson; and a large, loving circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.

A celebration of life will be held by the family on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 2:00 -4:00 PM at the Golden Connections Community Center, 20 Gotham Pl, Red Lion, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mark's honor to k9sforwarriors.org
