Mark Grimes Obituary

Mark Alan Grimes, 57, passed away Sept. 19, 2024, in Santa Clara, Calif.

Mark was born June 9, 1967, in Omaha Neb., to Gary Dean and Judy Ann (Farnstrom) Grimes who now reside in North Platte.

Mark leaves behind his older brother, Randall Dean Grimes, of Wickenburg Ariz. and younger sister, Kimberly Ann Grimes, with her significant other, Nino Nastasi, of Omaha.

Mark's immediate family includes his wife, Linda Marie (Harms) Grimes; two children Matthew Alan Grimes of Mountain View, Calif. and Megan Nicole (Grimes) Befus with her husband Nathaniel Carver Befus of Loveland, Colo.

Mark graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1985.

Mark met his wife and best friend, Lin, while in school at North Platte Community College.

Mark and Linda were married Sept. 12, 1987 in Madrid, Neb., and had just celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary.
The couple lived several places in Nebraska, Missouri, Colorado and California.

Mark studied and received his Technical Diploma in Drafting Design and CAD (computer aided drafting). Mark designed printed circuit boards for many companies during his career including Transcrypt (now EF Johnson), Intel, Broadcom, HP and most recently QualComm, often for R&D. He loved the challenge and excitement of helping create new technology.

Mark enjoyed his work acquaintances and friends, often joining them for lunch.

Family time was very important. Regular family video calls were something he looked forward to.

Mark was an avid sports fan and went to many games with family - Go Huskers, Go Broncos, Go Giants! Mark enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, music and movies. He was quiet company, so his sense of humor could catch you by surprise.
Celebration of Life will be Saturday, Oct. 26, at 1:30 p.m. at the Girl Scout Lakeview Cabin, 101 S. Lake Maloney Drive, North Platte.

Please dress casual. Wear something supporting your favorite sports team.

A GoFundMe has been set up for the family to help with medical expenses and arrangements.

So sorry to hear of Mark's passing. He was one of the younger neighborhood kids known to me as "Randy's little brother." Keeping his family in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
