Mark Guire Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Mark Eugene Guire December 2, 1957 – April 11, 2025
Mark was born in Fresno, California on December 2, 1957, the son of Frank and Margot Guire. From the very start Mark was a creative and inventive boy, de-constructing and reconstructing everything to see how it worked. In 1964 the family moved to La Canada-Flintridge. Mark was an acolyte at St. George's Church. He was an active Boy Scout growing up achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He rebuilt his car engine and started working as a plumber's apprentice in high school. Upon graduating from La Canada High in 1976, Mark mastered plumbing and other construction skills over the next 4 years. But Mark always loved designing and inventing things. To fulfill his desire, he branched out as an independent craftsman, establishing his company, Creative Engineering, specializing in unique home renovation, repair and maintenance. He was an honorable and trustworthy tradesman which garnered him repeat clients. Many knew him as "Mr. Fix it", available in a pinch, always ready with an innovative solution for whatever his clients required. He maintained his business for over 35 years. Mark entered the Teen Challenge program in 1997 as a student after struggling with alcohol abuse. After completing the Teen Challenge program, Mark attended the Bible Study Fellowship program from 2000-2007. He was also on the Ventura Teen Challenge advisory board from 2004-2006 and remained sober for 12 years, until his mother's death from cancer in 2011. Mark continued to struggle through his father's death which brought him back to Teen Challenge in 2017 where he recovered and worked as a Class "B" Driver. Mark continued his studies at Teen Challenge Ministry Institute, graduating in 2018. He then moved into a position of Class "B" Driver for the Union Rescue Mission, Los Angeles from 2019-2021. Unfulfilled, in 2022 he returned to Teen Challenge as an apprentice and Class "B" Driver. Mark was a loving and generous man, always looking for ways to help others. One of his greatest pleasures and gifts was cooking. If you ever needed to find Mark, he was either in the kitchen cooking or "cooking" up a new idea to make the world a better place. Mark joined his Savior on April 11, 2025, and is survived by his sister, Susan Guire (Cece Tsou), Uncle R. Lynn Miller and cousins Stephen (Kim) Miller & family and Maureen Miller. A Celebration of Life memorial service is being held at 11:00 am on May 10, 2025, under the big tent at Central Valley Teen Challenge, 42675 Road 44, Reedley, CA 93654. All who would like to celebrate Mark's life are welcome. Mark's burial will be held at St. George's Church Memorial Garden in a private family ceremony.
