Mark Steven Hansmann

In Loving memory of Mark Steven Hansmann (56) of George, Iowa.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Hansmann, loving husband, father, and grandfather, who courageously fought a battle with cancer. He passed away the morning of October 26, 2023, in the comfort of his home alongside family.
A Celebration of Life will be at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, November 01, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in George, IA. Visitation and fellowship with the family will follow. A private burial will be at a later date.
Mark entered this world on February 7, 1967, the last born of four children to Marlyn and Joan (Schoonhoven) Hansmann. He grew up on the family farm near George, where he developed a passion for fishing and camping, which he later shared with his wife and children.
Mark started his trucking career in 1991, traveling through 48 states throughout the years. He established DEMI Transport around 1992 and continued to haul livestock for multiple trucking companies. Later in life he transitioned from hauling livestock to pulling both reefer and hopper trailers.
Mark met the love of his life; Darcy (Trei) Hansmann and they were united in marriage on June 16, 1989. Together they built a family, and cherished many memories of camping, fishing, and riding along for countless memorable miles in the truck. Mark leaves behind his three children, Dana, Emily, and Joshua in which his unconditional love and hard work ethic has shaped the individuals they have become. His memory will forever be with them.
In addition to his family, Mark had a wide circle of friends who will remember him for his kindness, generous spirit, and unique way of bringing light to every situation.
Throughout his battle with cancer, Mark displayed an immense amount of courage. His determination to fight for more time with his family showed his commitment and love to those he held dear. He showed us how important it is to cherish every moment of life.
Mark Steven Hansmann is survived by his wife Darcy Hansmann; children, Dana (Paul) Fischer of Faith, South Dakota, Emily (Taylor) Kruse of Sibley, Iowa, and Joshua Hansmann of Upton, Wyoming; two grandchildren, Blakely Kruse and Clayte Fischer; brother, Darvin (Karel) Hansmann and sister, Debbie (Dave) Kats; Brother in Law, Randy VanBriesen, and many other friends and family.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Marlyn and Joan Hansmann; sister Marla VanBriesen.
