MARK EVERETT HANSON Funeral services for Lewis resident Mark Everett Hanson will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 31 at the First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Jerry Boschen officiating. Interment will follow at Lewis Cemetery. Mark was born the son of Paul and Thelma (Hichmott) Hanson on May 7, 1950 in Amarillo, Texas. He passed away at his Lewis home on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at the age of 59. Mark married Juanita Greenlaw on April 21, 1973 in Sointula, British Columbia, Canada. He graduated from Seattle Pacific University in 1978. In 1982 Mark moved his family to the area. He became involved in the Dolores school system serving on the Dolores School Board and as a member of the Dolores Wrestling Club. In his free time Mark enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing. He had always dreamed of opening a taxidermy shop. Mark's family was central to his life and he made sure to attend all of his kids sporting events as they grew. Surviving Mark are his wife of 36 years, Juanita Hanson of Lewis; his children, David Hanson of Fort Collins, Colo., Travis Hanson and Brigida Hernandez of Cortez, Brianna Wyatt and husband, Justin of Cortez, Chad Hanson of Denver, Kelsey McNurlin and husband, Dennis of Riverside, Calif., Megan Hanson of Cortez, and Colton Hanson and Chelsea White also of Cortez; by his parents, Paul and Thelma Hanson of Cortez; by four grandchildren, Tristan Hanson, Ethan Wyatt, Aubree Wyatt, and Chloe Hanson. Also surviving Mark are two brothers, Stephen Hanson and wife, Susan of Cortez and Jon Hanson of West Branch, Iowa. Mark was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Humphrey and Susan Hanson.
