Gallatin, Tennessee - Mark Allen Harris, a man of profound strength and unwavering faith, passed away peacefully in his home in Frankewing, Tennessee after battling liver cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of courage, resilience, and an unyielding dedication to his country and community.

Born on October 5, 1966, in Donnelson, Tennessee to Lee R. Harris and Judith Francis Harris, Mark grew up surrounded by the beauty of his hometown. From an early age, he displayed an exceptional sense of purpose and a zest for life that would guide him throughout his remarkable journey.

Mark's commendable military service spanned over 34 years and bore witness to his remarkable commitment to duty. Serving both in the United States Air Force and the Tennessee National Guard with unmatched dedication, he became an esteemed member of the armed forces. His unwavering bravery earned him numerous accolades including the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Aerial Achievement Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Unit Award, AD Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Combat Readiness Medal with 8 Oak Leaf Medals, and the National Defense Service Medal among many others.

Mark's tireless work ethic was matched only by his altruistic nature. He tirelessly dedicated himself to sharing kindness and compassion with others. With a vibrant spirit and extroverted personality that drew people toward him effortlessly; Mark was not just a friend but also a beacon of positivity. Known for his unwavering optimism in every aspect of life, he embraced challenges with grace and lifted the spirits of those around him.

Outside of his military commitments and relentless pursuit of excellence in all aspects of his life, Mark possessed a deep love for the outdoors. As an avid fisherman and hunter, he found solace in the tranquility of nature. Additionally, his innate mechanical aptitude allowed him to indulge in his passion for tinkering with tractors, a skill he employed to assist his neighbors with their fieldwork.

A man of unyielding integrity and meticulous attention to detail, Mark's impact extends far beyond the realms of his distinguished military career. His unwavering faith coupled with a commitment to his country and humanity became a guiding light for all who had the privilege to know him.

To honor and remember Mark's life, "Mark Harris" Day has been established on April 24th by the state of Tennessee as a day dedicated solely to commemorate his immense contributions. The Air Force 118th air lift wing will be forever recognized as "Harris Hall," exemplifying the indelible mark Mark has left on his beloved country. Furthermore, a bridge in Lincoln County, Tennessee serves as a testament to his unwavering spirit.

Mark is survived by his father Lee Roy Harris, mother Judith Francis Harris, daughter Robin Hoffman, son in law Nicholas Hoffman, brother John Harris, niece Shawna L. Haney, niece Hannah L. Curtis, uncle Johnny H. Sullivan, and his significant other Suzette Martin. Their lives have been profoundly enriched by his presence and they will forever cherish their memories together.

A visitation will be held at the Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 584 Nashville Pike in Gallatin, Tennessee on August 23rd from 3PM until 7PM. Another visitation will be help August 24th, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at the same location from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. The interment will take place at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery located at 7931 McCrory Ln in Nashville at 2PM.
