Mark S. Heiters

Mark Steven Heiters, 71, of Ortonville, Michigan, passed away on March 6, 2026.

Mark was born at Fort Sill Army Base in Oklahoma and was raised in Clawson, Michigan, where he spent most of his life. He dedicated 32 years of hard work and commitment to Bloomfield Township, retiring as the Road Department Foreman. Mark was known for his strong work ethic and the pride he took in everything he did.

Mark had a natural talent for working with his hands and could fix or build just about anything. He enjoyed mechanics and welding and was always happiest when he had a project to work on. When he wasn't in the garage, you could find him listening to his favorite music, especially blues and classic rock & roll.

Mark treasured the friendships he formed early in life and was fortunate to remain close with a special group of friends from childhood. The laughter, stories, and lifelong bond they all shared meant the world to him.

Those who knew Mark will remember his one-of-a-kind personality and his dry sense of humor. He had a way of making people laugh and never missed an opportunity to share a joke or bring a smile to someone's face.

Above all, Mark was devoted to his family. He shared 47 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Julie. The love of his life. He was also a proud girl dad to his two daughters, Hillary (Steven) Drotoz and Kelly Heiters, who meant the world to him.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Jane Heiters, and his loving in-laws, Robert and Evelyn Carnahan.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A memorial gathering will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 1368 N. Crooks Road, (between 14 & 15 Mile Road), in Clawson, Michigan, 48017, on Friday, March 13, from 3-8pm.

Memorials in honor of Mark are appreciated to the Michigan Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
