Mark M. Hennesy

Mark M. Hennesy, 81, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on September 22, 2024 in Phoenixville, PA. 

Mark was born in Phoenixville on November 6, 1942. He was the second of three children born to Joseph Charles Hennesy and Ann Elizabeth Hennesy (nee Buckley). 

He grew up in Spring City and graduated from Owen J. Roberts High School in 1960. Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Education from West Chester University in 1964. 

Mark was previously married to Sandra Starr, with whom he shares daughter, Deborah. He married Susan Hennesy (nee Koehler) in 1976, and had two more children, Katherine and Matthew. 

Mark loved playing baseball in his younger years. He played on the Owen J. Roberts High School and West Chester University baseball teams. Mark loved golf in his later years. He played golf for many years at the Kimberton Golf Club. 

Mark touched the lives of many people over the years as the owner of Hennesy’s Driving School. He patiently taught generations of people how to drive. From the new 16 year old driver to the stroke survivor requiring adaptive driving equipment— he taught them all. 

By far, Mark’s greatest passion in life was his family, and his children in particular. He was their greatest supporter. In his later years, Mark loved hearing about his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He loved looking at photos of his children and grandchildren. 

Mark was predeceased by his parents, brother Joseph Barry Hennesy, and sister Karen Tasca.  

Mark is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Susan K. Hennesy of Phoenixville, PA; his daughter Deborah Yahner of Ventura, CA and husband Joseph; his daughter Katherine McDonnell-O’Rourke of Malvern, PA and husband Daniel O’Rourke; his son Matthew Hennesy of Lancaster, PA and wife Alison; and eleven grandchildren: Chloe Yahner, Rebekah Yahner, Daniel Yahner, Dylan McDonnell, Fiona O’Rourke, Sophia O’Rourke, Rhianna O’Rourke, Joseph Hennesy, Evelyn Hennesy, William Hennesy, and Nicholas Hennesy.

A private burial will be held for immediate family.
