Mark Alan Kersey, originally of Greenwood, Arkansas passed away on Monday, October 9 2023, surrounded by family at his home in Minden, Nevada.Mark was born on November 30, 1956 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Bill and Betty Kersey. After graduating from the University of Arkansas, Mark worked in finance, real estate, and consulting in Texas. Later in his career, Mark relocated to Northern Nevada where he continued the family interest in mining gold, silver, and electrum. Mark was the Principle of two gold exploration companies and was energized by working in the outdoors, mastering the skills of land mapping, excavating, and staking claims.
Mark was a member of the TIGC golf and bowling club in Incline Village, Nevada where he made many lifelong friends. Mark's other hobbies included skiing, boating, fishing, and traveling.
Mark was raised in the Baptist faith. He had a strong relationship with Jesus and lived his beliefs through his actions. Mark was always smiling and kind with friends, family, and acquaintances and modeled integrity in his personal and professional life.
Mark is survived by his wife, Kathleen Wells Kersey; his son, Logan Kersey and wife, Jessica; Mark's grandsons, Liam and Huck of Bentonville, AR; Kathleen's three sons, Robert, Joseph and Nathan Puga; one brother, Randy Kersey and wife, Julie of Clarksville, AR; one sister, Lisa Kersey of Greenwood; two nephews, Jack and Nicholas Kersey; cousins, Bob Gleason, Don Oliver, Kathy McCann, Carol Ann Heaton, Kenny Edwards and their families; and lifelong friends of the family Terri and Patrick Ogle, Patrick's wife, Kathryn and their daughter Emmy and Roger and Carolyn Corbin.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Mark Kersey will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 30 at First Baptist Church of Greenwood, Arkansas under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home. A reception will follow at the church.
Mark was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in May 2023. He fought hard every day surrounded by family and friends who supported him in his care.
