Mark Laviolette, 73, of Shelton, formerly of Bridgeport/Fairfield, passed away peacefully at home on November 26, 2025. Born in Bridgeport on June 26, 1952, he was the son of the late Lester and Ruth Laviolette.
Mark attended Bullard-Havens Technical High School, where he studied plumbing and heating systems. In his early years, he worked at Bridgeport Machine in several departments, including machine maintenance and industrial rigging. Throughout his life, Mark held many roles—paving, electrical work, drywall, taping, and painting—always known for his strong work ethic and willingness to lend a hand.
In his younger years, Mark enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and spending time with his brothers over a game of cards. Travel and adventure were part of his inner spirit, leading him on trips across the United States and Canada. He loved going to New York City and was an enthusiastic sports fan, especially of the New York Giants and New York Mets. Mark also loved cooking and took great pride in preparing meals for the people he cared about. Above all, his greatest joy came from being surrounded by his family and friends. Known for his generous heart, he consistently put others before himself without hesitation.
Mark is survived by his children Steven (Sara), Daniel (Taylor), Nicole (Peter), and Jamie (Melanie). Mark also embraced Tyshon as part of his family, offering him the same support and affection he gave to his own children. He was a loving grandfather to Natalie, Taylor, Ryan, Ruth, Margot, Amelia, Elias, and Madeline. He also leaves behind his partner, Laura Strang. Their partnership included trips to the Caribbean, dates to the movies and dinner at local restaurants. Mark will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Rick, Buck, and Dreux.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 6th, from 1:00–3:00 PM, with a prayer service to follow at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, CT 06824.
