Mark Denis Main, born May 13, 1955, went to be with Jesus on January 5, 2025, after a valiant year-long battle against cancer. He was surrounded by all the family and friends who could be physically present, as well as a host of others who joined in prayer for his peaceful transition.
Mark was the beloved husband of Laurie (Nichols) Main and the cherished son of Reuben and Sonja Main, originally of Hamburg, New York. He and Laurie shared a life filled with love and adventure, spending much of their marriage living in Hiawassee, Georgia, before relocating to Lexington, Kentucky, to be closer to family. Mark was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Tates Creek Campus, in Lexington.
Mark is survived by his devoted wife Laurie; his son Michael Main; his stepchildren Sara Ball (Ted) and Kevin Rhatican (Ashton); and his grandchildren: Josiah, Bennett, and John-Maverick Rhatican, Samuel and Elaina Ball, treasured extended family members, and a multitude of loved, life-long friends.
Besides his family, Mark loved University of Georgia Bulldog football. SEC football was the only sport that he faithfully followed and he was known to "bark" at folks from time to time, especially during football season. Mark was known for being a jokester - both with his coworkers and family. During this season of struggle, he valued the worship music and messages each Sunday whether he was able to attend in person or view live on YouTube. Mark's life leaves a legacy of love and laughter for all those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
A service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 1, 2025 in the Sisk Chapel at Immanuel Baptist Church, 3100 Tates Creek Road, Lexington, KY 40502. A time of fellowship will be held after the service in the Connection Point area. Those wishing to join the service virtually may do so by a Zoom link which will be sent out by email on Friday, January 31st. Persons attending in person are being asked to wear RED & BLACK in honor of Mark's love of his beloved DAWGS. Also, since Mark was a huge animal lover, in lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations be made to the Lexington Humane Society, Paws 4 the Cause, or any other group that helps dogs and cats find their furever home.
