Mark McGowan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Serenity Meadows Memorial Park Funeral Home & Crematory - Riverview on Dec. 26, 2025.
Mark Francis McGowan, born on May 23rd, 1963, in Concord, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on the morning of December 21st, 2025, in Riverview, Florida. He was the beloved son of Charles and Sylvia McGowan.

An Air Force brat, Mark and his family moved to Florida in 1971, mainly living in Pinellas County. A proud United States Army veteran, Mark served his country with honor and dedication. He was married for 35 loving years to his wife, Julie, and was a devoted father to his son, Mason. Family meant everything to Mark, and he shared close bonds with his siblings Wanda, Michael, Kevin (Elke), and Steven and his wife Julie's family (Mom (Peg) and Dad (Rod) Copa, brothers and sisters-in-law Andrew Copa (Stephanie), Laura Shaw (Kevin), Beth Paben (Steven), Anne DeKeyser (Jan) and many nieces and nephews.

Mark had a deep passion for sports, playing baseball, softball and golf for many years, was a loyal supporter of the Tampa Bay Rays, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Florida Gators. He was also an avid reader and movie watcher, always eager to hop into the next action-packed adventure.

After his Army service, Mark worked for many years in the Rent-To-Own industry. He met his wife Julie at the beginning of his career at Buddy's Home Furnishings. A born salesman and storyteller, he deeply enjoyed building and maintaining relationships with his customers and co-workers alike.

Mark will be remembered for his loyalty, quiet strength, and the love he had for his family, country, and favorite teams. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

"May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand."
