Frances McGowan Obituary
Frances worked as a secretary for the Mahopac Central School District for 20 years, retiring in 2000. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Shrub Oak, NY.
On May 5, 1962 she married James J. McGowan at St. Rita's Church in Long Island City. Sadly, James passed away on October 19, 2019. She is survived by her children, James McGowan Jr. (Patricia) of Danbury, CT, Kellyann Mascetti (Thomas) of Long Beach, NY and Lori Sheldon (James) of Fort Montgomery, NY; her seven beloved grandchildren, Caitlyn (John), James (Tayler), Chelsea (Jimmy), Nicole, Taylar (Tom), Michael and Mallory; her five adored great grandchildren, Reagan, Ryan, Logan, Eloise and James as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband James, she is predeceased by her brothers, Thomas, Vito and Leonard Cimadomo and her sisters, Rose Esposito and Yolanda Germano.
Visiting will be held on Thursday, February 12 from 3-7 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 13 at 10 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Shrub Oak with entombment to follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, NY.

Sad to hear of her passing. A lot of memories of her growing up around Mahopac. Always seeing her around the High School, visiting with her in the office, seeing her - and hearing her (LOL) at sporting events alongside Mr. McGowan. Her giving you a break when she caught you in the hallways when you weren't supposed to be there and then sometimes following up with a little wisdom and advice. And through all of those memories and others, the first and last thing that comes to mind was that she was always smiling and could make you laugh. Heaven just gained another ray of sunshine.
