Ben Manna Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cargain Funeral Homes Inc. - Carmel on Feb. 19, 2026.
Benedict "Ben" Manna, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away suddenly on February 17, 2026, at his home in Putnam Valley, NY. He was born in Yonkers, NY, on December 27, 1947, to the late Michael and Grace (Consemme) Manna.

Ben is survived by his loving wife, Nanette (Auletta) Manna, who was truly the love of his life. Together, they shared countless cherished moments and built a beautiful life over the years. He is also survived by his beloved children, Michael Manna (Valentina Fresta) and Cara Johannessen (Scott), who will forever hold onto the values and life lessons their father instilled in them. Ben's joy was magnified by his grandchildren-Lacey, Jett, Maddox, Finn and Milo-each of whom he adored and cherished. His brother, Charles Manna, preceded him in death, leaving behind memories of the strong bond the two shared. His family was everything to him.

After graduating from high school and proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic, Ben made a lifetime career as a skilled electrician with Electricians Local 3 (formerly 501) in Westchester County, NY. His hands-on expertise and strong work ethic earned him the respect and friendship of his colleagues. Beyond his professional life, Ben dedicated countless hours as a volunteer at the Putnam Valley Food Pantry for over ten years, where his efforts helped nourish both bodies and spirits within the community.

Ben's interests were a mirror to his soul: he valued the simple, essential things in life and was a great outdoorsman. He took great pride in creating beauty through his woodworking. The same care and thoughtfulness went into tending his beloved vegetable garden, a place where he could often be found enjoying the fruits of his labor.

Ben's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Yet, the legacy of Ben's generosity will live on in the lives of those he helped and loved. Ben Manna will be dearly missed and always remembered as a man who took pride in every day, lovingly creating a life well lived.

Friends and family are welcome to gather at a Christian Mass being held to honor and celebrate Ben's life. The Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at St. James the Apostle Church, 14 Gleneida Avenue, Carmel, NY.

To pay tribute to Benedict's honorable service in the military, there will be a U.S. Air Force Honor Guard Ceremony held following the Mass outside St. James Church.

Private cremation has taken place.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made in memory of Ben Manna to the Putnam Valley Community Food Pantry.
