Obituary
Mark Steven Metra, 60, of Harker Heights, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2022. Visitation is from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday November 14, 2022 at Heritage Funeral Home. A Graveside service is planned for 9:00 AM Tuesday November 15, 2022 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Mark was born on October 31, 1962 to Robert Stanley Metra and Nancy Lippmann Metra-Emrich in Berwyn, Illinois. Mark was raised in Broadview Illinois. He lived directly across the street from Schroeder Park where we spent almost every day of our childhood at the Olympic size swimming pool, gymnasium, playground, and ball field. Mark loved baseball and was a great pitcher. He was only 7years old when his father died Mark. Mark graduated from Lindop Elementary School and then onward to Proviso East High School. His mom died his senior year and Mark left high school, got his GED, and started a military career in the Army. Mark served proudly during Desert Storm. He served 12 years plus Mark got married had a daughter named Jessica and divorced his wife, Casonya. After leaving the Army he then became an independent contractor as a civilian. During this time, found the love of his life Cherlin and they were married in 2000. Mark has traveled the world working for General Dynamics until his death. On occasion Cherlin would meet up with him and enjoy the time together seeing the world. Mark was Cherlins whole world. He will be missed for all time.
Mark Steven Metra was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nancy Metra.
He is survived by his wife Cherlin Metra; his daughter, Jessica Metra-Brown and her husband Hal Brown; his stepdaughter, Ashley Calderoni; his granddaughter, Taylynn Brown; his siblings, Scott Metra and his wife Diana; his sister Karrie Dillner and blessed with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
