Mark Mich, 73, of Oskaloosa, passed away Friday, April 18, 2025, at his home in Oskaloosa. He was born November 7, 1951, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Karl Artie "Christina" VerPloegh Mich. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1970. On September 7, 1974, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Edwards at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Mark worked at Pella Corporation for over 36 years as a fork truck operator in the metal plant. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree knight with the Knights of Columbus. Mark was a truck enthusiast, he loved the mud races and always looked forward to taking the "Big Blue Mud Duck" and bus to the races. He loved to work on and rebuild Ford Festivas. He and a friend built a "Minnie" truck out of two Festivas and took it to many car shows.
His family includes his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Mich of Oskaloosa; two daughters and their husbands, Jennifer and Brian Leitsch and Jacqueline and Nathan Puglisi; a sister and her husband, Lorraine and Ray Becze of Oskaloosa;
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Angela Mich; and several in-laws.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 23, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oskaloosa, with Fr. Joseph Phung officiating. Burial will be at the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa following the services. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 in the Bates Funeral Chapel beginning after 10 a.m. with the family present at the funeral chapel from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the MHP Serenity Hospice House.
