Mark Mule Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, LTD. on Dec. 27, 2025.
Mark R. Mulé, 61, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at his home in Libertyville, IL. He was born October 24, 1964 in Brookhaven, MS and was exceptionally talented from a young age, taking to percussion and the trap set like they were an extension of his body. He was awarded a full scholarship at Northwestern University, but left a year short of graduating to go on the road as a professional musician. He performed as a percussionist in traveling Broadway shows and musicals including Miss Saigon, Pal Joey, Disney on the Record, Fame, Dreamgirls, Fosse, Grease, Les Misérables and Mama Mia. He is remembered fondly by friends as a caring and thoughtful person and spent years helping his ailing father and stepmother. Challenged by back pain and mental health concerns, he retired to a quiet life filled with music and cooking.

Surviving is his sister, Lisa (Steve) Robinson; stepmother, Julie Mulé and by nephews, Alex & Jesse Black and Nick (Keri) & Luke Schmidt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Sandra Mulé and by a sister, Lynn Schmidt.

Private family services will be held where he was happiest, in Sarasota, FL. Arrangements by Burnett-Dane Funeral Home in Libertyville. Memorial donations may be directed to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Lake County. For info: 847-362-3009 or share a memory at www.burnettdane.com.
