Mark Novy

Mark Novy, age 60, of Henry, SD, passed away from four long years of battle with kidney disease on December 31, 2022.
Mark Novy was born March 22, 1962 in Clear Lake, SD to Henry and Velna (Crandall) Novy. He grew up in Clear Lake on the farm. Mark graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1980, then went to continue his education at SDSU for a few years, majoring in landscaping. After leaving college, he started his own landscaping business (B&M Landscaping) for many years. He sold his business in 2013.
Mark enjoyed carpentry and ended up working for Steve Horning for 13 years. In 2001, Mark married Victoria (Martz) in Rapid City, SD. The two lived in Watertown for 18 years before moving to Henry, SD in 2019.
Mark loved music! He played in the bands Rock It Science for 15 years and Dakota Country for 4 years.
Mark Novy is survived by his wife, Victoria Novy of Henry, SD, his step-son, James (Sara) Pietz of Watertown, SD, step-daughter, Angela West of Omaha, NE, grandson, Thayden Pietz of Watertown, SD, siblings, Jim Novy of Bryant, SD, Pam (Mike) Roberts of Watertown, SD, Pat Ladwig of Clear Lake, SD, and Paul (Melanie) Novy of Pittsburgh, PE, mother in-law Irene Nieuwsma, sister in-law Janice (Martz) Mohr, several nieces and nephews, and his dogs, Pixie and Dixie..
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters Marilyn Koisten and Diane Royer, two brothers Dick Novy and Michael Novy, and his two sons, Marcus Novy and Justin Althoff.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD with Pastor Benjamin Radtke officiating. A lunch will follow in the church Fellowship Hall.
