Mark Owens Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home and Crematory - Ashland on Jan. 30, 2026.
Mark W. Owens Sr., 58

He was born on February 24,1967 and departed this life on January 27th, 2026, due to a massive heart attack at University Hospital Samaritan Medical Center.

Mark graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1985. He was employed for many years at Patterson Welding until 1994 when he sustained injuries from a car accident that left him with many disabilities.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly & Richard Owens and a brother, Richard Owens Jr.

He is survived by his former wife, Kathy Wright-Owens, his right arm for more than 10 years; sister, Terry Jarrell; and brothers, Tony, David, and Matt Owens; and his aunts, Janet, Kathy, and Ruth. Mark leaves behind a daughter, Misty Dawn Owens York; sons, Mark W. Owens Jr. and William 'Billy' Owens; and another daughter, Tausha. He also had four stepchildren, a daughter, Freddie, and three sons, Michael, William, and Clyde Hoffer. We are grateful for the care provided by Mark's stepchildren and step-grandchildren during his time of need.

Additionally, Mark had grandchildren from his sons William and Mark Jr., whom he loved dearly, although he did not get to see them often. He never had the opportunity to meet some of his grandchildren, including Marky's, one daughter and three boys and Billy's four children. Mark is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Family was deeply loved by him.

A special debt of gratitude is owed to both Kelly and Heather his nurses and aides, particularly those who went above and beyond in their duties. Kelly, a friend of Mark's, was grateful for the exceptional care provided by her. Mark was also starting to build a rapport with Heather, another nurse, and held her in high esteem. Angie, a family friend and great caregiver, earned Mark's love and appreciation. Lastly, Tammy who provided care during her time with him. And to Sheila Reynolds who provided life sustaining measures for Mark and the Ashland Fire Department for their assistance.

In a time of great need, family requires compassionate assistance due to lack of insurance coverage, and Mark being indigent. A generous donation towards cremation services would provide solace and hope, and can be directed to Denbow Gasche Funeral Home, 313 Center St, Ashland, Ohio, 44805.

Online condolences may be shared on the funeral home's website at denbowfh.com.

Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted to handle the arrangements.
