Mark Peterson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hobbs Funeral Home - South Portland on Feb. 26, 2026.
Retired Sgt. Mark Peterson

September 30, 1961 – February 24, 2026

Retired Sergeant Mark Peterson of South Portland, Maine, passed away on February 24, 2026, at the age of 64.

Mark dedicated his life to a long and honorable career in law enforcement. He took great pride in his work as a correctional officer and truly loved what he did. His strength, integrity, and steady presence earned him the respect of colleagues and all who knew him.

Outside of his career, Mark embraced life fully. He was a devoted fan of Star Trek and classic old movies, and he found peace and freedom riding his motorcycle. Whether enjoying a favorite film or out on the open road, he lived life with passion and authenticity.

Above all, Mark loved his family deeply. He was a proud son, a caring brother, a loyal friend, and a fun-loving uncle. But most of all, he was an amazing and devoted husband. He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 37 years, Robbin Peterson, who was the love and center of his life.

He is also survived by his sister, Cindy, and her children Joe, Alex, Neveah, P.J., and Killian.

He leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews, Leona, A.J., Jacob, Kenny, Mark, Justin, and Kylie, who loved their Uncle Mark dearly and will forever carry his guidance, wisdom, and love in their hearts, along with his brother-in-law Ted, and his sister-in-law T.M. and her husband Kenny, who cherished him, sought his advice often, and loved him deeply.

Mark and his brother-in-law Tom, his wife Alicia, and their son Jesse had recently begun reconnecting, a time that meant a great deal to him.

He was predeceased by his mother, Martha; his father, Rusty Kinzer; his sister, Tammy; his brother, Jerry; and his mother-in-law, Leona Prescott.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

2 Timothy 4:7

Mark's legacy of love, strength, and unwavering faith will remain with his family always. He will be remembered for his strength, wisdom, loyalty, humor, and the deep love he gave so freely. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
