Maureen Duval Humiston, a lifelong resident of South Portland, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026.

A proud graduate of the South Portland High School Class of 1965, Maureen spent her early years attending Holy Cross and South Portland schools. Her commitment to lifelong learning led her to earn her degree from the American College in 2002.

Maureen was deeply rooted in her community and faith. She was a devoted member of St. Bartholomew's Parish and later St. Maximilian Kolbe in Scarborough. Her passion for her local community was evident through her involvement with the Cape Elizabeth Garden Club and her years of service with the Pond Cove PTA.

Maureen was predeceased by her sister, Doreen Duval Flaherty, and her brothers, Thomas Duval and Wayne Smith.

She is survived by her loving husband, Lee Humiston; her adopted children, Jeffrey T. Kelley and his wife Kate of Scarborough, and Elizabeth M. Kelley and her partner Andrew Bergeron of Naples; and her sister, Judith Colby of Old Orchard Beach and her brother Mark Duval and wife Ann, and her dearest of friends Peter Kane who she looked upon as a brother.

A Visitation will be held from 3p.m.-5p.m. on Sunday, March 1 at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 2 at Holy Cross in South Portland at 11: 00a.m. A reception will be held after at the Military Museum, 50 Peary Terrace, South Portland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Maureen's memory to the Maine Military Museum in South Portland.
