Mark R. Probst, 80 of Ocean View DE, formerly of Gaithersburg, MD passed away on December 1, 2025.

He was born in Washington State on March 6, 1945, one of two sons of Bob and Helen Probst. Mark lived in Richmond VA from 1945 to 1963 when he went to UVA in Charlottesville, VA under full scholastic and football scholarship. After graduating with a Masters in Engineering he went to work for the Department of Defense as a Mechanical Engineer. After 40 years of service, he retired with his wife to Ocean View, DE.

Mark was a master carpenter and loved building anything he thought of, including toys, a doll house and a skiff and kayak, which he sailed himself and family for many years. During his years at DOD in Adelphi, MD he would often spend lunch hours tutoring students at a local high school in math. He participated and donated to Wounded Warriors, NPR radio, Rocking the Boat. Mark taught his wife how to ski and proceeded to ski all over Europe and USA. He then took up horseback riding and with his wife including several vacations to Bitterroot Ranch, WY, a favorite place for both.

Mark leaves behind his wife, Marylee Sutherland, his two children Jon Probst and Jessica DaSilva, a brother and sister in law, Tom and Jan Probst and five granddaughters.

The family thanks Brandywine Senior Living in Selbyville DE and Vitas Hospice for all their wonderful care and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Mark's memory.

A memorial gathering will be held on December 12, 2025, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 34874 Atlantic Ave, in Ocean View, DE.

There will be a private family funeral at Mark's childhood fishing grounds in VA where he had great times with brother Tom, cousins Jack and Drury, and the tutelage of Grandpa and uncle Page.
