Mark W. "Trigger" Rigg, 66, of Hutsonville, IL, passed away on January 4, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. Born May 29, 1957, in Bone Gap, IL, he graduated from Albion High School with the class of 1975, forever cherishing memories of his formative years. The next 40 years of his life found him in the oil fields, with Western Oil marking the last chapter of his storied career. His tenacity and courage were legendary among his peers, as he was a man who faced the dangers of his job head-on.
Beyond his work, Mark was a man of the outdoors, and his passion for fishing was well-known among friends and family. He explored countless fishing holes, with a particular fondness for Sam Parr State Park, and reveled in the thrill of catching catfish in particular. His love for animals was just as fervent, having rescued numerous dogs throughout his life, each one finding a special place in his heart. As spirited as he was friendly, Mark's presence was a source of comfort and joy to those around him. His stubbornness was matched only by his amiable nature, making him a cherished companion and an unforgettable personality, especially to his treasured grandchildren.
In his passing, Mark leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and perseverance. Indeed, he is lovingly remembered by his wife, Carol Rigg; his son & daughter-in-law, Niles & Jessica Rigg; and his two grandchildren, Liam and Lane. He also leaves behind a legacy of love with Carol's children, Melissa & Justin Stoudt and Matt Slane, as well as her grandchildren, Noah, Chloe, Ridley, Zephyr, and Siler, who all cherished him as a grandfather figure. Mark's sisters, Jill Rigg and Beth Rigg, will miss their brother, as will his special brother-in-law, Byron Brown, a relationship that stands as a testament to the strong bonds Mark formed with those he brought into his circle of family and friends, a group which included Jeff & Tina Blair and Nick Cline, who was like a brother to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Mary (Cline) Rigg, and his daughter, Kyra Rigg.
It was Mark's wish to be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements. In honor of this dear man's love of animals, memorials may be made to the "Crawford County Humane Society". Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
