Mark Allan Rockwell

Mark A. Rockwell, a cherished musician, community member, and friend to many, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 76 on April 5, 2024, at his home in Galena, Illinois. Born on March 8, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, Mark's life was a symphony of love, dedication, and service, harmonized with the joy of music that resonated in the hearts of all who knew him.
Mark was the adopted son of Myron and Alice Joyce (Moeller) Rockwell. He grew up in a home filled with love and an appreciation for the arts, which greatly influenced his life's path. After graduating from Maquoketa High School, Mark embraced his passion for music and became an accomplished musician. His talent on the piano and organ made him a well-known figure in the Tri-States area, touching lives and uplifting spirits with every performance.
In addition to his musical career, Mark owned and operated a successful housecleaning business for several years. Even after retiring from his business, he never ceased to share his musical talents, becoming a regular performer at the DeSoto House in Galena, where his melodies continued to enchant locals and visitors alike.
Mark's life was one of connection and joy. He was a kindred spirit to many, with a warm smile and a gentle demeanor that drew people to him. His legacy is carried on by his numerous cousins and a multitude of friends who were fortunate enough to be part of his journey. Mark was preceded in death by his loving parents, Myron and Alice Joyce Rockwell, and his sister, Barbara Joyce, who all shared in the beauty of his life's song.
At Peace Cremation Services have been provided by Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. There are no public services planned at this time. A private burial will be held at the Sutton Cemetery, rural Maquoketa.
