Mark Curtis Root, age 60 of Marion/Cadillac died at his home following a lengthy illness.
Mark was born in Three Rivers, MI on November 25, 1963 to Robert and Thelma (Modert) Root.
Mark graduated from Pine River High School in 1981. He married Heather Bandelow on April 10, 1992.
Mark was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play sports. Mark enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, mushrooming and just being outdoors. Mark enjoyed going to the NASCAR races with friends and father-in-law Gary Bandelow.
Mark was an active member of the Marion Federation of Eagles #4087. He also spent many years coaching football and baseball.
Before his illness he was employed by County Line Construction in Marion for many years and really enjoyed building and working with the crew there.
Mark is survived by his wife Heather, sons Darren and Nathan (Taylor Anderson) Root and daughters Jessica (Heath) Deverman and Margaret (Matt) Keller, grandchildren Bradley, Cooper, Evan, Griffin Deverman, Landen, Emmalynn and Westen Keller and Maximus and Lillian Root. Also sister Rhonda (Ron) Schalow, brothers Robert Jr., Terry (Deb), William (Kim), John (Jennifer), James (Renee), several nieces and nephews, daughter in-law Barbara Root, in-laws Gary and Yvonne Bandelow and sister in-law Crystal Bandelow. Alex Bobon who he thought of like a son and special nieces Krysta, Becca and Tara.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, brother Steven, and brother in-law Gerald.
A celebration visitation of Mark's life will be held at Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain on Thursday May 16, 2024, from 5:00-7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family. The family is being served by the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain.
