Mark Ross Obituary

Mark Duane Ross
Clinton, MI
11/15/1954 - 04/02/2025
Mark Duane Ross, age 70, of Clinton, MI, passed away at his home on April 2, 2025, with his family by his side and under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born on November 15, 1954, in San Diego, CA, the son of the late Jack D. and Mary (Tunison) Ross. He was joined in marriage with Barbara Engel on June 9, 1984.
Mark was employed for twenty years as a Registered Nurse at Herrick Memorial Hospital until his retirement in 2016. Outside of work, Mark enjoyed drumming and listening to music, and he made it clear that the Beatles were his favorite group. He was an avid animal lover and he especially loved his cats. Mark was adept at building Lego sets and was handy at fixing things, particularly old Radio-Flyer wagons. Mark enjoyed disc golf, and was a devoted fan of Red Wings Hockey and the Detroit Tigers.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, Mark is survived by his son, Eli Ross of Clinton, MI; step-mother, Karen Ross of Traverse City, MI; siblings, Michael Ross of Beulah, MI, Jack Ross Jr. of Elmira, MI, Michelle Bissell of Frankfort, MI; half-sister, Jessica Solomon; half-brother, Storm Ross; step-sisters, Janet Buchalla, Chris Settles and Sharon Barnes; step-brothers, Bruce and Mark Barnes; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Charles Ross.
At his request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be planned for early summer. Memorial contributions may be made to Planned Parenthood, the Lenawee Humane Society, or the American Lung Association. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.handlerfuneralhomes.com

We were so sorry to hear of Mark's passing. Mark was our daughter Danielle's favorite nurse when she would go to Herrick hospital for her IV therapy. Mark always made her smile, sharing music, stories, and jokes with her making a difficult illness better by brightening her day. Mark would sometimes bring her day of the dead skull trinkets and other novelty items as presents. Thank you Mark for all you did for Danielle. She will never forget you. RIP

Sorry for your loss. I will always remember him at the High school basketball games. Stirring up the crowds with his drumming on the platform set on the top of the bleachers. He could get the crowd riled up.

I am so sorry for your loss.
I worked at Herrick hospital and always enjoyed conversations with Mark. He also helped put me at ease when I had a family member in his care. He will be greatly missed.
