Mark Samuel Rushow, aged 66, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024, in Standish, MI. Born on June 25, 1958, in Flint, MI, Mark's zest for life touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mark spent his childhood in Flint, raised by his adoptive parents who instilled in him a love for community and adventure. His father, affectionately known as "Sam the tire man," was known for his neighborhood football games, bringing joy and laughter to the local children. Mark's mother, a former head nurse, had a nurturing spirit that Mark inherited. Tragically, Mark's father passed away when he was just eighteen, leaving him with cherished memories and life lessons. His uncle would take him on exhilarating trips to the mountains and skiing adventures that ignited his lifelong passion for the outdoors.
Throughout his life, Mark was an avid lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed camping, hunting, tubing, and fishing. He would light up any room with stories of his skiing trips and memorable concerts he attended. His rhythm with the drums spoke of his deep connection to music, an art form he treasured alongside his various other interests, which included playing pool, arts, and discovering new music.
Mark's legacy lives on through his loving partner Debra Hoyt, whom he met during his high school years in Pinconning, a relationship that blossomed and continued to flourish in their Standish home. He will be profoundly missed by his daughter, Jessica; sons, Mark and Aaron; and grandchildren, Clinton, Braydinn, and Anastasia. Mark had faced profound loss in his lifetime, having been preceded in death by his sons, Derek and Kevin.
Mark Rushow leaves behind a tapestry of joyful memories, a testament to his life's rich and spirited journey. He will be remembered for his generous heart, adventurous soul, and the profound love he had for his family and friends.
