Mark was born on July 6, 1958 to William and Barbara Schmidt in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating from Warren Mott in 1976, he started a successful and sometimes challenging career in the Aerospace industry. Mark spent over 40 years perfecting his craft. He loved the challenge and diversity of mastering many aspects of an everchanging environment. After a two-year relationship that started at Big Boy, in 2000, Mark and Doreen got married.
Mark loved spending time with family and friends, as well as the family dog Jake, and two pussycats.
Mark enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, hunting, and his fire pit. And we all know how much Mark liked to watch football. Oh his beloved Lions! By the way, the game will be on at the Celebration of Life.
We know that Mark is surrounded by the love of his grandparents, his mother Barbara Schmidt, and by his friends Mark Ketterer and Kathy Jones. I am sure Mr. Bear was there to greet him too!
He is survived by his siblings Douglas Schmidt and Laura (Kurtis) Bennington; niece Alyssa, nephews Ian and Max.
Along with father William Schmidt and wife Doreen Schmidt, he is survived by his children Stacey (Todd) Allen; his grandchildren Nella and Jacob, William (Brittanie) Schmidt; grandchildren Emmalynn and Cole, Heather (Jason) Walters; grandson Jackson, and Angie (Michael) Ogelsby. Grandson Erik (Thomas) Parker.
The viewing will be October 23, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Wasik Funeral Home located at 35259 23 Mile Road, New Baltimore, MI 48047 phone 586.725.0177 with a Celebration of Life following at Fraternal Order of Eagles 7542 Palms Road, Ira Township, MI 48023 phone 586.725.0593.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Michigan Outdoor Obsession that will be collected at Wasik Funeral Home or at the Celebration of Life.
During the Celebration of Life we will all be watching the Lions game, just like Mark would have.
