Mark Allen Schmidt

Mark Allen Schmidt, 63, passed away Tuesday October 28th, 2025 unexpectedly at home.

Mark Allen Schmidt was born November 13th, 1961, in Fargo, ND to Marilyn Genevieve (Sandau) (Schmidt) Starr and Robert Allen Schmidt. He graduated from Moorhead High School.

Mark married Rachel (Rosch) Schmidt on August 4th, 1990 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bemidji, MN.

Mark worked as a security guard at Silverline in Moorhead during high school. He later worked at Hazer’s Auto Salvage and in the family business at Starr Fireworks until it was sold. Then he worked in maintenance at USPS downtown Fargo for the last 12+ years.

Mark enjoyed photography. Lots of his pictures are displayed at various places around the area and in several family and friends homes. He also enjoyed vehicle restoration, reloading, and feeding of the many critters in the yard! Mark was one of the original members of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in West Fargo.

Mark is survived by his wife, Rachel (Rosch) Schmidt, Kindred, ND; sons, Matthew Schmidt, Denver, CO, Andrew (Megan) Schmidt, Kindred, ND; sisters, Laura Schmidt, Fargo, ND, Tara (Asa) Wood, Upper Arlington, OH; brother, Tharin (Dane) Schmidt, Northwood, ND; several nieces and nephews; and soon to be grandson.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Marilyn (Sandau) (Schmidt) Starr, Robert Schmidt, Cameron Starr Jr; brother, Thomas Schmidt; grandparents, Marlys & Ernest Sandau.
