Mark Seigel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bruce C. Van Arsdale Funeral Home on Oct. 1, 2025.
It is with deepest sorrow we share the passing of Mark Larry Seigel, on Sunday, August 3, 2025, a beautiful soul – kind, gentle and endlessly creative who left this world far too soon at the age of 64 surrounded by his loved ones. He will be deeply missed.
Mark was born in Somerville NJ December 18th, 1960, one minute before his twin sister Cheryl (which he never let her forget). He leaves behind his beloved children Ian Seigel and Sage and Caitlin Miller and his 3 granddaughters, along with his precious cat, Pyewacket. He also leaves behind his two sisters and their families, Cheryl and Bill and their children, David and his wife, Kelsi; Zachary and his fiancé Gina and their son Luca; and Jacob and his wife Brenna (Fontaine). Deborah and her husband Jose (Seigel Ramos) and their collective children; John and his wife children and their daughters Casie and Ana (Seigel); Dan and his daughter (Mazur); and Brendan and his wife Amanda and their expected daughter (Seigel) and Danial Ramos; his stepbrother, Eric and his wife Christine and their children Ryan and Dylan (Oliver); and stepsister, Tracey (Oliver) and her children Delaney and Cassidy. He also leaves behind his two Great Aunts, Eileen Osterby and Gail Walsh (husband Raymond) and many, many cousins. He is predeceased by his mother Virigina Hayes Wilson, Stepfather Dr. Robert Wilson (Daddy-O) and father, John Seigel, stepmother Micki Seigel.
He grew up with his family in Clinton NJ where he and his sisters would play at the Spruce Run Reservoir or Debbie and Mark on minibikes racing through the grass. In 1976, along with his family, moved to Somerville NJ graduating from Somerville High School in 1978 (where he was affectionately known as "Headshop".) He leaves behind many friends that he made along the way. He had a generous heart and was truly the life of the party. (Everyone remembers "Roethke's barn".)
Born a natural artist, he brought beauty to the world with his talents for woodworking, photography and sign making. Ever the consummate artisan he strived for perfection in everything he did. He learned his sign making trade through his father, John Seigel, at a very early age at Seigel Signs, and then on to Rich Signs with his cousin, Rich Dombey (who also learned the trade from Mark's father, his uncle, John Seigel) and then finally opening his own business together with his brother-in-law Bill Fontaine, Sign City.
His nephew, David Fontaine, will always remember the perilous walks on the train tracks behind Sign City with his fearless Father and Uncle Mark walking to McDonalds to get a Happy Meal. His nephew, Brendan Seigel, has special memories of his house being alive with laughter whenever Mark would visit, keeping him awake into the late night. Mark would say or do something and it was the laughter of children coming from the adults; a whimsy he so naturally brought out in everyone.
In his later years he moved up to Tobyhanna PA with his love, Cindy Miller and her/their children. After Cindy passed, Sage and his wife, Victoria, generously moved in with Mark to help him live his life with compassion and friendship in a home he had lovingly shared with Cindy.
Mark has always suffered from epilepsy through his childhood and adulthood. It was this condition which ultimately took its toll on Mark coincidentally suffering a major seizure the same night his father passed away (July 17, 2025). After dealing with many seizures over the years, this last one was just too much for Mark to recover from.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 20th from 1-4pm for both Mark and his father. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mark's name to the Epilepsy Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania, https://www.efepa.org/
