Mark Sigmon Obituary

Visit the Poole Funeral Home - Woodstock website to view the full obituary.
Mark Alan Sigmon, age 69, of Canton, GA met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of August 8, 2025 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. In the days leading up to his passing, he was surrounded by his loved ones.

Mark was born on November 8, 1955 in Barberton, OH to Richard and Lenora Sigmon. His life was characterized by unwavering faith in Jesus and devotion to his family. Mark earned his Bachelor's Degree from Cedarville University (OH) in 1977. Cedarville is also where he met his wife Cindi (Porter), and they were married on August 20, 1977. Later, Mark went on to earn his Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary in 1991 and served in multiple pastoral, ministry and leadership roles throughout Indiana, Michigan and Georgia. Mark founded Global Impact Services in 2007, a nonprofit organization focused on equipping church and parachurch organizations for cross-cultural ministry. He also established and directed the West Michigan Friendship Center, a gathering space and outreach to refugees and immigrants in Grand Rapids, MI. Mark's recently-completed project was a six-session small group study called Journey to the Nations. Mark had a passion for international travel and cultures, where he served, counseled and supported many missionaries. He traveled to 45 countries, including what ended up being his final overseas trip in May 2025 visiting missionaries in Athens, Greece. Mark was happiest when he was with his family, working in his immaculate garden, watching the Ohio State Buckeyes, starting a new project, and whenever he was winning in fantasy football.

Mark is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cindi Sigmon; his children Kristin (Joel) Karsies, Joel (Katie) Sigmon and Kari (Brett) Timmer; his grandchildren Gavin, Taylor and Mason Karsies, Claire, Nora and Ivy Sigmon, and Emma and Greyson Timmer; and his brother David Sigmon. Mark was preceded in death by his father Richard Sigmon (2005) and his mother Lenora Sigmon (2011).

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 15 at 11:00am EST at Poole Funeral Home in Woodstock, GA, with a live stream available online.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the West Michigan Friendship Center (https://www.westmichiganfriendshipcenter.org).

"May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face shine on us – so that your ways may be known on the earth, your salvation among all nations." (Psalm 67:1-2)
