It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mark H. Simmons Sr. at the age of 89. Mark passed away at 5:20 am on December 6, 2024 surrounded by family and loved ones.
Mark was a proud member of the Masons for over 60 years. His commitment to the Masonic Community was unwavering and he built lasting friendship and bonds through his years of service.
For 36 years, Mark served as an Electrician at Wright Patterson Air Force Base where his dedication and expertise contributed to the success of countless projects. He was known for his meticulous attention to detail. His colleagues and friends alike admired his work ethic and willingness to help others, always ready to lend a helping hand or share his knowledge.
Outside of his professional life, Mark found immense joy in woodworking, particularly in crafting lighthouses. He would spend hours in his workshop shaping and perfecting each lighthouse. His lighthouses became known at local craft shows, where he proudly sold them to appreciative buyers.
Mark is survived by his wife of 69 years, Grace Simmons. Mark and Grace had five boys, Mark Jr and his wife Beverly, Jay and his significant other, JoAnne, Terry and his wife, Lynne, Jerry and his partner, Ken and Greg and his significant other Karen. Three grandchildren, Dawn and her husband, Alfred and Melissa and her significant other, Danny Howard. Three great grandchildren, Kaylee Hall, Christy Fulton and Jaylynne Williams and and two great great grandchildren.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, and one grandchild, Jessie Lee Simmons.
A Masonic Service and Celebration of Life will be held on February 16, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Xenia Masonic Lodge No. 49.
