Dr. Mark H. Soto, age 70, of Warsaw, a devoted pastor, educator, and lifelong learner, passed away surrounded by his family when he went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2024. He was born on March 22, 1954, to Marcello and Antonia (Fusco) Soto in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. He dedicated his life to serving others through both his spiritual and educational pursuits, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.

Dr. Soto had an illustrious career that spanned over two decades as a professor at Grace Schools, where he inspired countless students during his 23 years of service. His commitment to education extended beyond borders as he taught in various locations, including Argentina, Central African Republic, Germany, and Ukraine. His dedication to education was further exemplified by his accolades, including being named Teacher of the Year in 2002 by Grace College.

In addition to his role at Grace Schools, Dr. Soto served as a pastor at Calvary Baptist Church of Oswego, where he exemplified unwavering faith and commitment to his community. His passion for serving the Lord was evident in every aspect of his life, and his warmth and kindness touched the lives of those around him.

Education was a significant part of Dr. Soto’s life. He graduated from Cedar Cliff High School, followed some time at West Chester University before entering the Army. He graduated from Appalachian Bible College, where he was also named Servant of the Year as an alumna. He furthered his studies at Liberty University where he received a Master of Divinity. He earned both his Master in Systematic Theology and a Doctor of Ministry from Grace Theological Seminary. He rounded out his degree portfolio with a Masters of Online Education and Adult Learning from Capella University, illustrating his fervent belief in lifelong learning.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Soto enjoyed leisure activities such as reading spy novels, playing golf, and enjoying many of the Mexican food trucks. He also found joy in being a community supporter, notably working the time clock for Grace College basketball games. Additionally, he served honorably in the Army as a staff sergeant until his discharge in 1980.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Carol Soto, along with their daughters, Rebecca Soto and Naomi (Michael) Mulligan, all of Warsaw. He took great pride in his role as a grandfather to Connor, Macy, Mallory, and Matthew. He is also remembered by his siblings: Angela (David) Hamlin, Celeste Menseck, Matthew Soto, Gregg (Sue) Soto, and Onalee (Anthony) Finio, as well as a sister-in-law, PJ Soto.He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Andrew Soto, along with his grandparents, Benny & Jane Fusco, and Angela Soto.

A visitation will be held on October 25, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2000 Sheridan Street, Warsaw, IN. Mark's Life Celebration will be at Winona Lake Grace Church on October 26, 2024, starting at 11:00 AM with Dr. Tiberius Rata officiating. Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Mark will be laid to rest at a later date and time with a private family graveside service. Arrangements were entrusted to Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
