Mark S. "Sparky" Sparhawk

Mark S. "Sparky" Sparhawk, 60, of Sutton and formerly of Auburn, passed away after a defiant fight against cancer on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center.
He leaves his beloved wife of 31 years, Michong (Kim) Sparhawk; his devoted daughter, Ashley Kriner and husband Kyle, of Framingham; his grandson, Karson Michael Kriner, to whom he was lovingly known as "Papa"; his sister, Rebecca "Becky" Gustafson and husband Steven, of Grafton; his favorite cousins, Keith Sparhawk and Rita Busha, who were like siblings to Sparky; his nephews, Mark and Nick, and many other beloved nieces and nephews in South Korea. Sparky also leaves close friends, Brian Thomas, Mark Sarkisian Jr., Michael Sheridan, neighbors and friends of Pleasant Valley Country Club, dear friends in Florida including the Elite Eight, his fellow Auburn Dandies, and his many valued clients who became friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Carol (Fisher) LaRoche; and his grandparents, Harry and Rita McCullough, who raised him.
Mark was born in Worcester and was raised in Auburn. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1980, and then attended and graduated from Nichols College in 1984.
Mark founded MidState Wealth Management in 1998 and had an extensive career of over 36 years as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. His passion stemmed from being able to help his clients make the right choices for themselves.
In his free time, Mark enjoyed playing golf, traveling, driving his Corvettes, and above all, spending time with his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart of New England Council (https://hnebsa.org/). Mark was the treasurer of the Boy Scouts of America Mohegan Council, which is now the Heart of New England Council.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Sparhawk family from 8:30 to 10 AM on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central St., Auburn. His funeral service will follow at 10 AM. Burial will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
